The Erlangen AG is first-mover in the field of competitive intelligence for cities and regions

Competitive Intelligence is an interdisciplinary discipline of business management and - development. The aim of CI is to get competitive advantages by selective census and analysis of fragmented information about market and competition. In a time of growing pressure in competition and a complex and fast moving competitive environment it is important to be one step ahead of the competitors. Companies have to anticipate the activities of the competitors in their strategic orientation. (Rainer Michaeli)

The Erlangen AG represents the opinion that even cities and regions have to shift towards a more strategic exposure to entrepreneurial thinking because even their environmental competition has changed. CI is one instrument.

The aim of CI for cities and regions is to identify best practices and to convert them into the own strategy. At the end, a process of strategic and sustainable positioning in the location is permanently monitored.

The Erlangen AG has already initiated a CI process. In a first project a CI report had been created. In the future the CI report will be developed and published regularly in an annual cycle. The Erlangen AG enters the way of a CI monitoring that permanently compares Erlangen with other locations in order to turn best practices in the own strategy. An annual CI-Report will be developed and handed over to the Stakeholders.

The Erlangen AG is first-mover and recognized expert in this field. On several symposia we could already share our expertise.
